SCHEME

WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

You'll join Creative Music as a trainee instrument tutor. Over 3 - 6 months we will support you as you deliver individual lessons to younger students. Our senior tutors will provide regular support and our aim is that you will develop all the skills needed to take on a full time role at Creative Music.

We are primarily looking for guitar, bass, keys/piano, drums and vocal tutors. But whatever instrument you play, we want to hear from you.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Whether you're fresh out of college, still studying or just looking for a way to make the most of your musical talent, we want to support young musicians like you aged 16 - 25 who are looking for an opportunity to enhance their teaching skills in a regular work placement at Creative Music.

You don't need any teaching experience before joining us, you'll learn all of that on the job. All we want to see is that you can play (grade 6 minimum) and that you're enthusiastic about becoming a tutor.

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

During your training, we'll focus on developing the following key skills:

- Delivering exciting, dynamic lessons

- Planning and creating lesson material

- Grade syllabus knowledge

- Communicating with students & parents

- Working as part of a small team

By the time you've gained all of these skills you will have a full timetable of regular students that you'll continue to teach as a Creative Music tutor.

THE NITTY GRITTY

AVAILABILITY

Creative Music offer lessons during the afternoon and evening throughout the week, including weekends. Our tutors work between 15:00 - 20:00 (10:00 - 15:00 on weekends) to deliver these lessons, based on how busy your teaching timetable becomes.

PAY

We offer an increasing rate of pay as your teaching experience grows. We also set our pay inline with the age brackets set out by the government. We recognise the extra level of skill required to work as a music tutor so we pay higher than the national wage minimums. As an example, our youngest tutors can expect to start their  training on £6.00 an hour instead of £4.81. Once you pass your training, you'll move up £8.50 an hour. More experience equals more pay!
